The Montclair Baseball and Softball Club (MBSC) runs a competitive travel baseball program for players ages 8 through 14.
The 8U through 12U travel baseball teams play as the Montclair Bulldogs on teams coached by parent volunteers. The Bulldogs play travel teams from other towns, typically within a 45 minute drive of Montclair.
Players on the 12U team play in a week-long tournament in the summer at Cooperstown Dreams Park, where they compete with more than one hundred teams from across the country in a family-friendly environment that caps off the players' time as Bulldogs.
Players at the 13U and 14U levels play as the Junior Mounties. The Junior Mounties are coached by professional coaches. Because the Junior Mounties program is designed to prepare players for high school baseball, teams are organized by grade level rather than age group.
In addition to league play, both the Bulldogs and Junior Mounties may play in competitive regional tournaments.
Tryouts are held each Fall for our 8U through 14U teams for the Spring and Summer seasons, which run from March through July. A separate tryout is held at the end of July for Fall baseball teams. If possible, the MBSC will form more than one team at each age level, designated as "A" or "B" teams. Teams also typically hold winter workouts to prepare for the Spring season.
The MBSC travel teams focus on player development, sportsmanship, and having fun while playing baseball at a competitive level. We strive to build a positive and respectful team culture and encourage players to continue to develop their skills at the high school level and beyond. A high level of commitment is expected of players in the MBSC travel program, which includes attendance at practices and games. During the Spring and Summer seasons, it is expected that travel baseball will be a player's primary sports team, and that players will give priority to travel baseball over other commitments.
All MBSC programs are for players who live in Montclair or attend school in Montclair.
